Reflection on a Month of Haiku
Reflections at Thirty-Two Days into my Haiku-a-Day Project:
The daily opportunity for reflection is fantastic! Since the project started, everyday, I’ve had to stop and ask: What am I going to think on for a while? If this is the only value out of the project, then it is one hundred percent worth it.
Other benefits? There are many:
- I am learning lots about the haiku, what I am getting right, where I am missing the mark, and what is landing with people in my small sphere of connection.
- Around a week into the project, I presented my haiku with a photo. This has had an added benefit, too. Now, I am pairing the poems with images that I have taken…more opportunity for reflection. Plus, they enable the poems to reach a broader audience.
- I find myself returning to themes, which have surfaced issues and ideas I want to address in greater detail.
- Finally, for this short accounting, I am writing again and that is all-win!
I could go on and on. But, as the first month of the project turns, it seemed appropriate to take stock.
My encouragement to anyone reading this is to write a short something today, maybe a haiku. See what you reflect on and what it means to you…
Excellent point! Write a short something… It always adds up over time! Thanks, Sib!
